I thought I’d give you an update on what our farm looks like in the middle of summer.
I stopped doing tours for several weeks, because of the heat.
I’ll restart them in September, if you’re interested in seeing ‘behind the scenes”.
Here’s some of the latest pics.. Enjoy!🥰
The little piglets, we just got, are romping in their deep bedding & gulping gallons of whey each day.
We milk the cows in the cool of part of the morning & then they enjoy their pasture grasses the rest of the day + lounging under their shade cloth in the heat.
Farm Story: We were moving the shade cloth the other day & it collapsed. Oh my!
But with Farmer Loyd’s problem solving skills, some handy tools like a welder & a torch, our hired farm hand, & myself we got it back up within 24 hours.
The cows smiled.
And so did Loyd.
He rests best when his animals are well cared for.
The guineas are having the time of their life with the grasshopper population.
The calves are loving their new stomping grounds and look forward to their share of milk. We recently got a 4 month old bull from PA, his name is Pete. When he’s older he will become the daddy of our baby calves.
The kitten population keeps growing. And Breanna does a wonderful job of loving on them.
The young chickens are now running with the older ones. They’re easier to move after dark. So everyone joined in & we got them moved. We should be seeing small eggs from them in a month or two.
The rabbits happily chew on “pigweed” & lounge about. They are growing quickly.
And we try to get our outside work done in the coolest part of the day! Although Loyd does end up doing quite a bit in the heat as well. Jugs of water & cold Chocolate Milk make it more doable. 🥰
And at the end of the day Borntrager Dairy Ice Cream hits the spot.😋
